    UK Containers now off loaded

After many months of waiting news has arrived that the containers of resources sent out form the UK to Uganda as part of Uganda 2000 have arrived at their destination. Unfortunately a Land Rover destined for Apac is still held up on customs and chairs and bicycles sent out by Berkshire Scout Enterprises were delayed in Customs and sold.

Leaders in Uganda have been writing to the Network expressing their appreciation of the gifts from the UK.

Members of the Network are relieved that at last they have arrived at their destination. The President had authorised the waiving of import taxes.

    Mityana Scout Enterprises

Berkshire Scout Enterprises in a joint project with the Friends of Scouting Uganda have appointed Geoff Breadon as Project Manager to head up the provision of a training facility in Mityana. Berkshire Scout Enterprises has years of experience in pushing forward the training of the unemployed in the UK and is now using its skills to assist young people in Uganda.

The Leader of the Uganda end of the Partnership, Sammy Senkumba is well know to visiting leaders from the UK and will be working with local Leaders to get the project moving.

Berkshire Scout Enterprises - Alan Beavis - said that he hoped the project would be completed by 2005 when he is due to retire.
