Network Meeting in Youlbury, Oxford - 27/29 October 2000

The number of members advising that they are attending this meeting and Uganda 2000 Reunion is increasing daily.

The Disco for Saturday 28 October has been booked and will have a distinctive Ugandan flavour.

Unfortunately indoor bunk accommodation is now full, but there is plenty of room for those hardy people wishing to camp, or you can, of course, bunk down on the floor of the Rover Den or utilise the marquee - after the Disco.

This is your chance to celebrate the success of Uganda 2000, hear of your colleagues experiences and plan for 2001.

Register now with Marion Stagg or with Alan Beavis

    Network meeting with ACC (I)s

On Saturday 30th September Uganda 2000 Contingent Leader Eric Goulding and Network Co-ordinator Alan Beavis attended the Assistant County Commissioners - International Meeting in Leicester.

The Scout Association's International Commissioner, David Bull, issued an impressive challenge in his opening address, setting out the way forward for the future in encouraging support of UK Scouts in International affairs.

The keynote of his address is the effectiveness of networking. Eric and Alan were impressed by the way in which David's International Team support the work.  Speaking about Uganda 2000 Eric Goulding spoke of the joys and successes of working in Uganda with young people. 10 Venture Scouts had met the unique challenge of the Explorer Belt, 30 had climbed Mount Elgon and over 100 young people and Leaders had worked on projects to benefit local communities.

The full text and report on the Meeting will be circularised in due course.

David has asked for comments in connection with his Paper on Networking, which will be available at our forthcoming meeting at Youlbury.  If you are unable to attend and would like a copy, please email Alan Beavis Is it an over-optimistic thought that 200 Scouts and Leaders could attend the Youlbury Meeting. Already overe 100 have said they will be coming.

Sean Kendal the ACCI - Oxfordshire has agreed to chair the meeting on the Saturday; David McKee - Programme & Development Manager, International will be attending and hopefully David Bull can spare yet another weekend.
